Main Features of the Cannondale Topstone Models
The Topstone series offers a variety of features that make them ideal for both gravel use and bikepacking adventures. Here are some of
the key features:
Geometry
The Topstone models feature a modern geometry that enables both sporty use on the road while providing safety
and agility on loose surfaces and tight trails.
Ride Comfort
The Topstone Carbon models feature Kingpin suspension, which provides up to 30 mm of travel (measured at the
saddle) and increases both ride comfort and safety on rough terrain. All aluminum models also benefit from a full carbon fork, which
reduces vibrations and improves ride comfort. For those who frequently ride off-road or seek the highest ride comfort, the Topstone Carbon
Lefty model, equipped with the Lefty Oliver suspension fork and 30mm of travel, is the choice.
Tires and Wheels
The Topstone models are equipped with wide tires between 37mm and 47mm that offer excellent grip and puncture
protection. Most models come with classic 700c wheels, but some variants are also available with 650b wheels. The ideal choice for riders
looking for a playful, agile bike that is frequently ridden off-road.
Drivetrain and Gears
Cannondale equips the Topstone models with a wide range of gear ratios and transmissions, suitable for various
scenarios. In addition to models with a traditional 2x front crankset, there are increasingly variants with a 1x crankset. Advantages
include lighter weight, less wear, and simpler shifting. However, due to the narrower gear range, it is more suitable for sporty riders
and moderate inclines. The different models cover the full range of shifting components from microSHIFT on entry-level models to Shimano's
GRX and SRAM's Force. Some are even electronic.
Brakes
All Topstone models are equipped with disc brakes, ensuring excellent braking performance under all
conditions. Mechanical disc brakes are found on entry-level models Topstone 3-5. From Topstone 2 and on all Topstone Carbon variants,
hydraulic disc brakes with even more power and a defined pressure point are used.
